We are incredibly proud of our three young apprentices, who, despite not coming from a Pony Club background and having limited experience, have made remarkable progress since joining us in September. They have each successfully passed their BHS Stage 1 exam, marking an important milestone on their journey toward equine qualifications and careers within the industry.
Starting out in a busy commercial yard with over 70 horses, these three apprentices faced many challenges. Initially, they struggled with the scale of the operation and gaining confidence around such a wide variety of horses. However, they have grown immensely in both confidence and competence. Not only have they developed stronger relationships with the horses, but they have also gained valuable skills in client interaction and in managing the demands of a bustling equestrian centre.
Their resilience has been truly inspiring, as they’ve faced all kinds of weather and the daily challenges of equine care with determination and a positive attitude.
Their progress is a testament to their hard work, passion for the industry, and commitment to their learning.
The BHS Stage 1 exam they recently completed consists of practical assessments, horse care, and a riding test. Over a 5-hour assessment, they each rode two horses and demonstrated their skills across a range of tasks, including practical care and discussion. Their soft and thoughtful approach to working with the horses has truly stood out.
Congratulations to all three apprentices on their incredible achievements. We look forward to seeing them continue to grow in the equine industry!
