The Saddle Club is affiliated to the International Pony Club organisation (www.pcuk.org) and provides a learning structure for children who wish to improve their recreational riding in a fun, safe and professional environment.
We currently have 50 children learning to ride with group lessons held during the week after school and also at weekends.
During the school summer holidays, the Saddle Club offers Junior and Senior Residential camps (3 nights & 4 days); 2-day non-residential for tiny tots; fun days and badge days, as well as regular assessments for Pony Club tests. Please contact the office if you would like details of upcoming camps and a sample itinerary of what the camp entails.
Over the past 30 years we have seen so many children grow into experienced riders, showing empathy and understanding towards horses and the industry. We are extremely proud to have had the opportunity to help them progress into the riders and eventers they are today.
With this in mind we decided to develop a RAC Saddle Club Junior Academy. This is an exciting opportunity and will be offered to riders with their own ponies who are able to meet the competence required to join and in such develop their skills and progress through the course.
The aim of The Junior Academy is to encourage growth and offer new experiences for the riders and their ponies. It will be exciting and engaging and focus on developing core knowledge and skills. The lessons will be both practical and theory, and we encourage riders to challenge themselves in a safe manner.
We will prepare the Junior Academy members ready for competitive activity and we will be working towards our next RAC Saddle Club Junior Eventer team representing the Junior Academy and RAC Saddle Club at future events.
The syllabus is set as a 10 lesson course, set out over various dates between January and June. To sign up to the Junior Academy you must enrol onto the whole course. Upon application you will be informed of your level of competence and placed into the appropriate group. Throughout the course the rider will be monitored and assessed to enable our instructors to keep riders in the correct group.
BHS Pony Stars for RAC Saddle Club Pony Club Members
ADVENTURE, FUN AND FRIENDSHIP STARTS WITH PONIES
Pony Stars is the British Horse Society Junior Challenge Awards helping children to discover, develop and nurture their love for ponies and the outdoors. As a BHS Approved Centre, RAC Saddle Club can offer these courses to their pony club members.
With over 100 topics for children to explore, Pony Stars will ignite a passion for ponies, build knowledge and cement friendships that will last a lifetime.
As part of the programme, each child will receive their very own My Challenge Book to log their achievements. As they progress through the various challenges there will be stickers, badges and rosettes up for grabs too to keep them engaged and motivated.
With four key groups, Pony Stars enables long-term progression with a range of activities that will develop knowledge, skills and self-confidence. In each group your child will work through sets of challenges that make up topics within set themes.
