A lack of undulating terrain makes Bovington’s course a good one to start the season for those worried about fitness. Both William Fox Pitt and Mary King last year remarked on the variety of fences with the track providing a great education for horses and riders. Expect water, banks, drops, ditches, corners and skinnies with typically an easy run around flat well-maintained paddocks. Although last year’s Novice was more testing with a tricky combination from designer Adrian Ditcham, who will once again design the course, Bovington has a solid reputation for being ideal for those starting out in eventing or moving up a level. Both Pitt and King commented positively on the ground, that it was efficiently run and on alterations which improved flow.
Show jumping is on a surface (recently renovated) with a good flat grass surface on playing fields. Parking mainly on grass.
