Residents of Dorset House had a wonderful experience at RAC Saddle Club, where they presented a generous £1000 award for the club’s outstanding work as part of the Chair’s fund.
During the visit, residents met Henry, a dressage and show jumping horse with a fantastic friendly nature. Henry stood patiently, allowing the residents to cuddle him, tickle his neck, and feed him his favourite treats, mints. The farrier was also on site, providing an opportunity to learn about their work and watch them change horses’ shoes, which was both educational and fascinating.
Three residents had the chance to ride a horse. Sally, the horse who had previously helped residents experience riding, once again provided a calm and positive experience. She is a lovely, patient horse who welcomed everyone warmly.
Max, a new resident who spent most of his life working with horses, was eager to ride again. He demonstrated a helpful dismount technique, which proved beneficial for others. Max expressed his joy in riding again, saying it was just as he remembered.
Yvonne enjoyed her second experience riding Sally and thanked her with a hug, describing the experience as simply wonderful and special.
Tom, who has been enjoying various activities at Dorset House, including clay pigeon shooting, decided to try horse riding for the first time. He felt like a real-life cowboy and described the experience as simply wonderful.
The visit to RAC Saddle Club was a heartwarming and memorable day for all the residents, filled with learning, joy, and new experiences.
