As we come to the end of our first academic year, we wanted to share and celebrate the success stories of the children who attend RAC Saddle Alternative Provision and British Horse Society (BHS) Changing Lives Programme.
We are incredibly fortunate to have outstanding facilities and such a fantastic team of horses, all of whom are happy, friendly and play a vital role in supporting our learners. Our horse-assisted mentoring and education programme provides a clear pathway into the equine industry, helping young people develop practical skills, confidence and qualifications for the future.
Since joining the framework with BCP Council and Dorset Council, 11 young people aged 8 to 25 have achieved qualifications including the British Horse Society Stage 1 Ride, PDQ Level 1, and Functional Skills in Maths and English.
Watching our young people thrive at the yard has been incredibly rewarding. They have grown in confidence, improved their communication skills, and developed a real sense of achievement. Every milestone they reach is a testament to their hard work, determination, and the dedication of our mentors, teachers and volunteers.
Our BHS Changing Lives Programme has also been wonderfully supported by Wey Valley School in Weymouth. We are especially proud that one of their students has recently completed school having successfully passed her British Horse Society Stage 2 Ride qualification. Last year, she was honoured to receive her Stage 1 certificate from Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal – a truly unforgettable achievement. Some of our young people have even featured on the news, helping to raise awareness of the positive impact that horses can have on education, wellbeing and personal development.
As we look ahead to September, we are excited to welcome back many of our returning young people while also opening our doors to new learners. We look forward to sharing our fantastic yard, classrooms and horses with them and continuing to support every individual on their journey.
We are immensely proud of everything our young people have achieved this year and can’t wait to see what the next academic year brings.
Thank you to all of our families, schools, partner organisations and supporters for believing in what we do and helping to make these opportunities possible.
